This morning we did a lot of talk about light and dark. Mrs. L loves when its light out. We kept the lights on and shades open. Then we played a game using a tissue box. I had them close their eyes (when their turn) and feel around for an item inside the box. They used words to describe the item and realized how hard it was to be in the "dark". We talked how light and dark are opposites. We did Starfall whole group letter L and looked at all the L words they listed. We finished our Mother's Day surprises, I can't wait for you to all see them this weekend. In centers we did ipads, playdoh letters, white boards and markers with letters, and continued on our upper/lower matching cutting/pasting activity. Recess this afternoon was so beautiful- the perfect temperature with the sun beaming on us. See you tomorrow :)

Middle of the week! We had a busy busy day filled with lots of fun activities. We sang our hearts out with Mrs. Burton, 2 more weeks till the Spring Concert! It will be Thursday 5/24 @7:00pm and we will be wearing lavender or purple that night! In centers we continued on the letter L. We did our stick puppet Ms. L and upper/lowercase letter L and filled it with all letters, after we traced it. Marlee shared her Goofy stuffed animal and River shared his amazing hat! The friends sit so patient and ask the best of questions about the show and tell brought in. We have been practicing our songs for the end of the year celebration, they are all so excited for you to all see. It will be June 14th @10:00am. (dismissal following celebration) We made a beautiful "words have power" poster with the help of Mrs. Caruso. It came out fantastic!! It is for the MAAV organization. I gave another clue for this Friday's mystery reader today too. See you tomorrow :)
Today we had a fantastic day! We loved every minute of both recess times outside and the ice cream pretend parties have started! We had art with Mrs. Caruso today and they completed a project poster as a class for the "word have power" MAAV program. River shared his tennis racket and tennis ball while Marlee shared her American Girl doll. They gave me and Mrs. D lots of hugs and love for teacher appreciation day/week! We did centers this afternoon and began a special "surprise" Mother's Day project. I told them it is not a secret, rather a surprise- so they don't spill the beans. They finished their big to small math work and they look great. You will see them in their folders this week. Today we celebrated Lillian's 4th birthday by singing to her as a class! See you tomorrow :)
Hope everyone had a great weekend. Ms. L laughed her way into the class today. She brought a bag full of L words with her that included: lipstick, laces, a lion, a lock, legos, lemon, and L friends names in the class. We marched and laughed around the class to her song and laughed very hard at her L book. "Lizards eat lollipops" and "Ladybugs drink lemonade" were two of the funny parts of the book. River and Marlee shared their show and tell for day one. River brought in his Storm Trooper watch while Marlee brought in a baby she enjoys feeding and playing with. In library Mrs. Johnson read "The Kissing Hand" to the class. We made it out for both recess times. This whole weather week looks FANTASTIC! See you tomorrow :)
We made it through another full (muggy) week! Please send in extra water on hot(ter) days since the classroom does get a bit warm. We had library with Mrs. Johnson this morning right @8:20. Luke and Niamh shared their last day of show and tell. Mrs. Haratunian danced with us this morning to a kindness song, the kids loved it! As we were heading outside, 5 mins into recess, it started raining on us so we had indoor recess. We colored vests and vaccums today to finish off Ms. V! Have a great weekend! :)
Happy almost Friday. Today we had Luke and Niamh show day 4 of show and tell. Luke brought in a Paw Patrol toy and Niamh brought in a beautiful mermaid Barbie that lights up. We did whole group letter Vv this morning on the Smartboard. We finished up the ELA centers, so everyone finished their sequencing plant work (which are hanging in the class), letter V stick puppet and cutting veggies from the flyers. We had a vote, another v word, on what vegetables we like the best. (pic below) Corn won with 8 friends liking it the best. We talked about what number was bigger and what was the smallest. In math we began a superhero color/cut activity on biggest to smallest. They began to color the superhero girl and boy and sort them to big, medium and small. This will take a few centers, for it is a lot of work for them to color and cut. Reminder tomorrow is early release @10:55! See you tomorrow :)
Today was a warm one! We tried to stay in the shade this afternoon at recess, since the sun was so hot. It was so nice with the breeze. Please check your child's backpack for winter clothes were sent home from their cubbies and need to be replaced with summer/warmer weather clothes. Even if you think your child does not need clothes, please send- just in case a spill at snack or lunch happens, you never know. We had music this morning before lunch with Mrs. Burton. This afternoon we had ELA centers. We did 4 tables- two of which were teacher tables with myself and Mrs. D. We did ipads, Ms. V stick puppet, sequencing of plant growth, and then cutting out vegetables from the MB flyer to put after tracing and writing upper/lowercase Vv! We have been working a ton on cutting, and it has made a world of difference. Niamh showed off her Repunzel horse and Luke brought in a book for me to read, at the end of the day. "Don't Let the Pigeon Stay up Late." It was a busy day! See you tomorrow :)
What a beautiful weather day! We were all so excited to start a new month on our calendar! We went over important dates this month that were listed on the calendar. Lillian is extra excited for May since she is the last birthday before the summer. We loved recess outside, both times. This morning we had art and show and tell. Niamh showed her Elsa doll and Luke shared his fireman hat that he got down the Cape. They loved it! We did ELA centers after lunchtime. We finished our bug books, did Spring time peel stickers, used Ipads, and began a plant sequencing activity. We talked a lot about what is needed for both plants and veggies to grow. Talk to your child about it. I read from "Seed to Plant" book before breaking off into centers, so they had a visual on the growing process. See you tomorrow :)
Today Ms.V was found hanging in Mrs. D's pocketbook. She came with vegetables, vanilla, a violin, a van, and violet color markers. We read her story about planting a garden. It was sang to the tune "This is the way we" as we read it together as a group. We will talk a lot about vegetables and planting this week. I have a lot of fun activities planned! We had library with Mrs. Johnson where she read "Make Way for Ducklings". Luke shared his show and tell, this week is Luke and Niamh. He brought in his Paw Patrol stuffed animal! In math we will begin a new unit on "adding and subtracting", We will finish off the school year in this unit. We will talk about "taking away" and "adding" cubes and items, it will be very basic. We are excited a new month is happening tomorrow and it will be May! See you tomorrow :)
