Happy long weekend. How fantastic was that show last night. I am so proud of all of them for singing and dancing their hearts out and not to mention for being troopers well past their bed time. Today was a lower key day, since they all were a bit tired. We finished up Q and did quiet centers. We had a mystery reader today! Mrs. Harutunian was the mystery reader, and they were so excited. She read two Clifford stories, she used to read to her 3 children when they were little. Ellie and Nathaniel shared their show and tell for the last day. Next week it will be me and Mrs. D! We made a special Memorial Day project for my best friends husband Mark Mulry- who continues to serve our country. (picture below) I hope you have a great long (3 day) weekend, and Happy Memorial Day!

Today was a busy day! They worked so hard in both morning and afternoon centers. We did cookie trays and magnet letters spelling out their first and last names. They had the best time doing this! It is so great for letter/name recognition too. We have been really working hard on just uppercase letter at the beginning of the name. In math we have been "adding" up all items in the class to see how many are together. They are really getting to be familiar with plus (t) and equals (=) signs. I have begun assessments and am so proud of them!!! We worked hard this year and it 100% shows. We will plant our very own pots tomorrow, and care for her as it starts to grow. On Starfall we did the letter Q words and played the "question" game. I went first as an example. Thumbs up if what I say is asking a question or thumbs down. Friends got to have a chance on the "stage" if they wanted to. Ellie shared her pink puppy dog and Nathaniel shared his red car, which happens to be my favorite color. We are all so excited for tonight's Spring Concert, see you tonight!
Today's walk over to Memorial Hall was great. The weather was perfect and the friends did such a good job walking in pairs and listening to make sure everyone was kept safe. They did such a good job on stage and sang so great, I can't wait for you all to see it tomorrow night! Please have your child wear purple or lavender to the show. Today in centers we did Mr. Q stick puppet, Upper/lowercase Qq, ipads, and letter/word puzzles. On the upper/lowercase Qq we did either question marks or the letter Qq on it. I explained in whole group that the letter Q and U are "besties" that they stick together like glue, in words. Q and U are always together and I explained it like how me and Mrs. D are too. Best Friends always together. Ellie shared her ballerina stuffed animal and Nathaniel his Paw Patrol car and guy. Recess was beautiful both times, we were loving the sun and nice weather. I told them to get a good night sleep tonight because tomorrow is going to be a busy day, especially with the concert @7pm! See you tomorrow :)
Yesterday when I was not here Mr. Q arrived. Today he brought a lot of questions with him. What? When? Where? Why? Who? questions. We went over what a question mark is and what it means. We practiced asking questions as a whole group. I explained that a question needs an answer. In art they started a project on fish, cutting and gluing the bottom of their project. Nathaniel shared his show and tell and so didn't Ellie. We loved to see his transformer and her PJ Mask toy. I was quickly reminded first thing this morning how I missed show and tell yesterday haha. I emailed all of you on our walk that will take place tomorrow. We are walking over to Memorial Hall with PreK-B to practice for our Spring show, almost like a rehearsal. I have walking permission slips from you all, but if you do not want your child to walk- please contact me. We will be leaving right after prayer so please make sure to be on time tomorrow. See you tomorrow :)
Happy FriYAY! Another week down, can you believe it?! We had library with Mrs. Johnson this morning right at 8:20 where she read them a story about a bunny an older child no longer needed to carry around because he grew up. Sadie and Bodie shared their show and tell for the final day. Sadie shared her kitten and Bodie shared Anna from Frozen. Next week it is Nathaniel and Ellie's turn! We finished the letter U and practiced writing upper and lowercase letters in the air. Recess was a bit cool today, but still so great to get out for both. We talked about the Royal Wedding that is happening this weekend, I showed them on the Smart board the real Queen and soon to be Princess! Enjoy the weekend :)
Happy Friday eve! Today we practiced our end of the year songs for the celebration on June 14th. This morning at ELA we did Starfall letter U. We had many words with u as the second letter, rather than at the beginning. (bus for example) We danced and sang to Ms. U up up up song and then broke off into centers. Friends finished off the stick puppets, we began to do up arrows on the upper/lowercase U's, did sounds on the ipads, and then did one on one's with me at the teacher table finishing off where we'd like to go with our unusual umbrellas. The umbrellas look so great- they will be in their folders tomorrow! This afternoon we did a lesson on adding potatoes on the Smartboard, whole group. We branched off into centers and used the bears along with dry erase boards- to do some adding. Basic addition up to 10 or less. At another table we did paper towel marker drawing and then used water and paint brushes to see what happens to the picture. They were so amazed at how much the picture changed and how the water covered the markers. Talk to your child about this. Sadie and Bodie shared their show and tell for day 4- tomorrow is their last day! See you tomorrow :)
A bit cooler today but no rain so no complaints! We had a busy day from start to finish. We had music today with Mrs. Burton and we can't believe it is one week until the show. (May 24th @ 7pm) In centers we worked on our umbrellas, stick puppet U's, ipad sounds, and cutting/pasting letter match. Their umbrellas look great and we will finish them for sure by Friday so they can share where they'd like to flu up up up away to. Sadie and Bodie shared their show and tell of Wonder Woman and Sofia. Show and tell is such a BIG deal around here. We close our eyes and its a big reveal once they say "open." We have been taking turns solo doing Hail Mary, on our "stage". If they would like a turn they get one, I have been doing about 3-4 friends a day at the end of prayer. Talk to your child about it. See you tomorrow :)
Today Bodie and Sadie shared their awesome show and tell of Superman and Sofia the first, thanks for sharing day 2. We began talking about water with Ms. U and how the earth is made up partly of it. We will do water activities this week in centers. We had art this morning with Mrs. Caruso and they began a fish project they will finish off the year with. In centers we did ipads, (sight word games, letters, or sounds) pot painting (to grow our own), block building with letters, and a started an umbrella project we will finish this week. Ms. U has an unusual umbrella that allows her to fly up up up into the sky. So we will be coloring and cutting our own umbrellas with our names on it, gluing that and raindrops and then thinking of a special place we'd like the umbrella to fly us to. The pots look fantastic! We will add soil and marigolds once they are dry then begin to watch them grow with the help of sun and watering daily. See you tomorrow :)
Welcome back. Hope you all had a great Mother's Day weekend. Ms. U was found sneaking into our window today!!! She must've snuck in when we were outside at recess because we found her and her unusual umbrella when we came in. She flies and goes up up up. She brought an umbrella and an unhappy face with her. (u words are hard!!!!) We danced around the room with our pretend umbrellas going up up up for a bit and listened to the Ms. U story. At centers we used ipads, counting/writing numbers using legos, magnatile building, and cube measuring with items around the class. We have been working on adding and subtracting so we took some cubes away and added more to figure out a new number. In library she read them "Mouse Soup". After recess this afternoon we walked over to the Mother Mary statue and did The Crowning of Mary as a school. It was wonderful to be involved and to sing along to the songs we practiced last week. Have a good night, see you tomorrow :)
Today we had quite an eventful day! The Principals for the day came and read a story to us and played on the playground with us. River brought in a kaleidoscope for show and tell and Marlee brought in a bunny stuffed animal! It was a great week of their sharing. Bodie and Sadie will share next week. We finished off the letter L and laughed our way into the weekend :) Inside their backpacks is a Mother's Day present they worked so hard on!!! Happy Mothers Day to you all!
